Fifth, be careful with reward substitution. If you constantly reward yourself with junk food or screen time for completing tasks, you are training your brain to value the reward more than the task. Over time, the task becomes a painful prerequisite for the real pleasure. This is a common mistake. The goal is to make the task itself feel rewarding, not to turn it into a toll booth.

It will begin to release dopamine not just when you finish, but when you begin. That is the moment you stop needing motivation and start having momentum.
And that, honestly, is the whole game. Not to feel pleasure all the time, but to build a system where the effort itself feels like the reward. The dopamine is just the messenger. The real power is in what you choose to point it at.
