Community Gets Inside Look at University Psychology Research Lab

The university opened the doors of its psychology research lab to the public during an Open Research Day event, giving visitors a firsthand view of how studies are designed and carried out.

Guests toured the facility and watched demonstrations of ongoing experiments. Faculty members and students walked visitors through the methods researchers use to study behavior, memory, and perception, explaining how participants are recruited and how data is collected and analyzed.

Organizers said the event was meant to demystify psychological science and show how research conducted on campus connects to everyday life. Visitors had the chance to ask questions about specific studies and learn how findings can inform areas such as education, mental health, and decision making.

Several attendees said they were surprised by the range of work taking place in the lab and appreciated the chance to see equipment and procedures up close. Students involved in the research also benefited, using the event to practice explaining their projects to a general audience.

The lab plans to host similar public events in the future as part of an effort to strengthen ties between the university and the surrounding community.
