Opossums crash psychology class after falling through Whitten ceiling

Opossums crash psychology class after falling through Whitten ceiling

A psychology class at Whitten Hall was abruptly interrupted this morning when an adult opossum and its baby came crashing through the ceiling tiles. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. in lecture hall LC 170, startling students and bringing the lesson to an immediate halt.

According to an unnamed student present in the classroom, the surprise visit was preceded by subtle warnings. Students had been hearing distinct "sounds of an animal running around in the ceiling" throughout the early portion of the class. The noises culminated when a section of the ceiling gave way, dropping the two marsupials into the room.

Campus facilities personnel were promptly called to the scene to manage the situation. The animals were safely contained and removed from the lecture hall without injury to students or the opossums themselves. The class was subsequently dismissed, allowing for cleanup and assessment of the ceiling damage.

University officials have not yet commented on how the animals gained access to the ceiling space. The event provided an unforgettable, real-world disruption to the academic routine, turning a standard morning lecture into a memorable wildlife encounter. Operations have since returned to normal in the building.
