Five Greater Latrobe students recognized as September Wildcats of the Month

Five students from the Greater Latrobe School District received recognition during the September school board meeting on Tuesday. The district named them Wildcats of the Month, a program designed to highlight students who demonstrate outstanding character, academic effort, or service to their school community.

The honorees represent different grade levels and buildings across the district. Each student was selected based on nominations from teachers and staff who observed their contributions both inside and outside the classroom. District officials said the award aims to celebrate students who go beyond expectations, whether through helping classmates, showing resilience, or taking part in activities that strengthen their schools.

Board members took time during the meeting to congratulate each recipient personally. Family members attended as well, and the students received certificates along with words of appreciation from administrators. The Wildcats of the Month program runs throughout the school year, with new honorees announced each month.

District leaders noted that recognizing student achievement remains an important part of their regular board meetings. They added that the September group set a strong example for peers, showing that consistent effort and kindness do not go unnoticed. The next round of Wildcats of the Month will be announced at the October meeting.
