Garriy Shteynberg, a recent addition to the Department of Marketing in the Haslam College of Business, has been named a member of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Before joining the Haslam College, Shteynberg served as a member of the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences.
In his new role at Haslam, Shteynberg plans to continue his research on how shared attention and group dynamics shape human behavior. His work explores the ways people process information differently when they believe they are attending to something alongside others, a concept with direct applications to consumer behavior and marketing strategy.
The Society for Personality and Social Psychology is a professional organization dedicated to advancing research in social and personality psychology. Membership is extended to scholars whose work contributes significantly to the field. Shteynberg's induction reflects his standing among researchers studying group cognition and social influence.
His move to the business college signals a broader effort to connect psychological research with marketing practice. Colleagues at Haslam noted that his expertise in social psychology will strengthen the department's research portfolio and offer students new perspectives on consumer decision-making. Shteynberg's appointment and society membership took effect this year.
