Since high school student blockades began, and even more so after October 17, general practitioners, psychiatrists and psychologists have observed the effect of the current climate of anxiety on some of their patients. Many describe a constant, anxious background noise that never fully fades, even during quiet moments. The uncertainty surrounding daily life, combined with repeated disruptions, has left some people feeling exhausted and on edge.
Professionals report that symptoms vary widely. Some patients struggle with sleep, irritability or difficulty concentrating. Others describe a deeper sense of helplessness as familiar routines break down. The cumulative nature of the stress is what worries clinicians most. Unlike a single traumatic event, the current situation drags on, making it harder for people to recover and regain a sense of control.
In response, health workers are offering practical strategies to help patients protect themselves. These include limiting exposure to rolling news, maintaining small daily routines, staying physically active and keeping contact with supportive friends and family. Clinicians also encourage patients to name their feelings rather than suppress them, and to seek professional help when anxiety starts interfering with work, sleep or relationships. They stress that psychological support remains available and that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
